PK Domain
A PK domain is any web address ending in Pakistan's country code, .pk, which is managed by PKNIC, the national registry. It comes in two styles: a short name such as yourbrand.pk, and category endings such as .com.pk, .net.pk, .org.pk, .web.pk, .biz.pk and .fam.pk.
Who should hold one? Any business, school, clinic, NGO or professional whose customers are mainly in Pakistan. Search engines read a country-code extension as a sign that a site targets that country, so a .pk name supports local visibility in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and smaller cities alike. It also tells visitors they are dealing with a Pakistani organisation, which matters for trust when buyers pay by bank transfer or cash on delivery.
Each ending carries a meaning. .com.pk is the traditional commercial choice, .org.pk is intended for non-profits and associations, .net.pk suits internet and technology firms, and .web.pk and .fam.pk give individuals and families a personal option. Restricted endings such as .edu.pk and .gov.pk need proof of eligibility before activation.
All the open endings cost the same with us: Rs 4,149 to register and Rs 4,599 to renew. That makes the choice about fit rather than price. Many companies keep a PK domain alongside a .com and point both at one website, so customers reach them whichever ending they type, and nobody else can trade on the version left unregistered. Email addresses on the same name, such as sales@yourbrand.pk, carry that local signal into every message you send.
Buy PK Domain
To buy a PK domain you need either an accredited reseller or a direct PKNIC account. WinsHosting is a PKNIC-accredited member, so an order placed with us goes straight into the registry's system with no further company in between, and you manage the name in the same client area as your hosting and email.
Registration costs Rs 4,149 for .pk, .com.pk, .net.pk, .org.pk and the other open endings. Pay through HBL, Bank Alfalah, Standard Chartered, JazzCash, Easypaisa, card or PayPal, and you receive a rupee invoice that suits company accounts and tax records.
Think about taking both yourname.pk and yourname.com.pk. Customers type either one, and holding the pair stops a competitor or squatter using the version you skipped. Point one at the other so there is still only one website to maintain.
If you would rather handle the registry panel yourself, buy PKNIC prepaid cards at Rs 3,449 each and register through your own PKNIC account instead. Most owners find the reseller route simpler, because reminders, renewals and support all come from one place.
Whichever way you buy a PK domain, register it in the name of the business that will use it. Ownership changes for .pk names involve signed letters and sometimes affidavits, so getting the registrant right at the start saves time and money later. If a developer is placing the order for you, ask them to enter your company's details and your own email address, then confirm the record once the name is live.
PK Domain Registration Online
PK domain registration online takes a few minutes through our checkout, and open extensions never require you to post forms. Search for the name in the box above, add it to your cart, enter the registrant details and pay.
Fill in the registrant details exactly as they appear on official records. For a company, use its registered name; for an individual, use the name on your CNIC. PKNIC can ask for proof if information looks wrong, and inaccurate records may lead to suspension. Choose an email address you will keep, because registry notices and renewal reminders go there.
Next set the nameservers. Order hosting at the same time and ours are added for you. If the site is hosted elsewhere, enter that company's nameservers now or update them later from the client area.
Once payment is confirmed, we submit the order to PKNIC and the name normally goes live within one working day. You receive a confirmation email and can see the new record in our whois lookup.
Overseas Pakistanis can complete PK domain registration online from anywhere in the world, paying by card or PayPal. Restricted endings such as .edu.pk are the exception: the order is placed online, but PKNIC activates the name only after accepting supporting documents. Our team will tell you exactly what to send and where, and will check scanned copies before anything goes in the post. Nothing about the process requires a trip to Lahore or a PKNIC office.
.pk Domain Name Search
A .pk domain name search shows whether your chosen name is free under Pakistan's open endings. Type the word you want into the search box at the top of this page, and the checker reports which Pakistani endings are available and what each costs.
Search using the words customers actually say. Roman Urdu terms, city names and short trade words make memorable addresses, such as lahoretutors.pk or karachibiryani.com.pk. Because Roman Urdu spellings vary, search the common alternatives too, and register the likeliest misspelling if the budget stretches.
If the .pk is taken, see whether .com.pk is free, or add one short word that describes your trade. Avoid hyphens and numbers; they are awkward to say over the phone and easy to mistype on a mobile keyboard that keeps switching between English and Urdu.
A taken name can still be worth a second look. Run a whois check to see its expiry date and status. A name nearing expiry without renewal might come free later, while one renewed every year for a decade almost certainly belongs to an active business.
Write the shortlist out in lowercase without spaces before deciding, because words can run together into an unintended meaning. Show it to a few people and ask what they read. Search results are live but are not a reservation, and names go on a first-come basis, so when a .pk domain name search turns up the right match, register it straight away.
PK Domain Requirements
PK domain requirements are light for open endings and stricter for restricted ones. For .pk, .com.pk, .net.pk, .org.pk, .web.pk, .biz.pk and .fam.pk you need accurate registrant details: a full personal or company name, postal address, phone number and a working email address.
Restricted endings work differently. .edu.pk is for recognised educational institutions and needs documents showing that status before the name is activated. .gov.pk and the provincial endings, such as .gop.pk for Punjab, .gos.pk for Sindh and .gkp.pk for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, are reserved for government bodies. Full rules are on our PK restrictions page.
PKNIC can also refuse or withdraw names that infringe trademarks, are offensive or imitate official bodies. Holding a name does not give you rights over someone else's brand, and disputes can be raised under PKNIC's own policy.
Later changes carry their own requirements. Moving management to another reseller needs a signed authorisation letter, and where the registrant differs from the person now applying, PKNIC asks for an affidavit on stamp paper attested by an oath commissioner, along with a signed CNIC copy. Our transfer guide explains each case.
If you are unsure whether your organisation meets the PK domain requirements for a particular ending, ask our team before ordering. Where the rules are unclear, we check with PKNIC first, which saves you paying for a name that cannot be activated. Schools and colleges in particular should send us their recognition letter early, so the .edu.pk paperwork is ready before the order.
